Using real-time data, ‘IMPRINT’ gives motion and shape to winds connecting different parts of the world.
Composed of a wind meter and a screen, this installation refers to the idiom of the butterfly who flapped its wings and caused a storm on the other side of the world, therefore prompting the question ‘can a wind which blows from as far away as Istanbul change the weather in Osaka?*’
Using a Processing application to visualise a constantly changing wind flow of Osaka, visitor is invited to blow into the awind-meter, creating a momentary disruption, which is captured and printed for the visitor to take away.
‘IMPRINT’ is a metaphor for our human connection to nature, where our seemingly small actions can result in a global imprint.
FUHA is an exhibition conceived in a collaboration between FABRICA and Daikin, Japanese indoor climate system company. "FU" and "HA" are two traditional Japanese onomatopoetic expressions reminiscent of the sound of human breath.
*First presented at Milan Design Week in 2015, an installation has been taken for permanent display to Daikin's new Experience Plaza in Istanbul. IMPRINT is a piece contributing and expanding the orgiginal show collection.
